My Story
I’m so glad you’re stopping by for a visit to learn more about Critchfield Productions. It all started with a little girl and a dream to tell stories on TV. I’m so thankful that dream came true! I spent more than a decade as a reporter and anchor in local newsrooms in North Carolina and Missouri. I trained as a multi-media journalist meaning I can do it all - shoot, write, and edit compelling content on a fast deadline. I loved using my skills to help viewers gain information to make decisions about the world around them. But, the news can wear on you.
I knew I needed to remind myself and the people watching our daily broadcasts that there is still so much to feel hopeful about. So, I launched my own series about all the GOOD happening around us. It was surprisingly easy to find. From the little boy using his allowance money to buy Christmas gifts for other kids to the barbers giving free back-to-school haircuts, I found these everyday heroes were right in our midst.
My ability to ask the right questions helped me walk away with authentic soundbites. My expertise with my camera helped me catch the most meaningful moments. And
my editing experience helped me craft emotional stories that resonated with viewers and beyond.
My storytelling has earned me nearly a dozen Mid-America Emmy nominations and three wins, an Edward R. Murrow award and numerous recognitions from the Missouri Broadcaster’s Association.
Outside of news, I’ve also translated my skills to tell stories for Duke Health’s marketing department about everything from a groundbreaking procedure in the OR to the hospital’s pet therapy program.
I stepped away from news in 2023 for my WHY. The hours in a newsroom were not conducive to my growing family. So, I traded reading the evening news for reading bedtime stories to my two young children. I’m very grateful for this time with them. But, my itch to tell stories hasn’t gone away.
Now, I hope to use my skills to help share your message. Let’s work together to craft a story that makes your audience feel something and in turn motivates them to act.
I just need a deadline. Send me yours. And let’s get started.
